Qld Covid: What You Need to Know

Latest Updates and Restrictions

As of 1am AEST on 14 January 2023, Queensland has lifted all Covid-19 restrictions. This includes the mask mandate in healthcare settings and on public transport. There are no longer any gathering limits or restrictions on businesses or events.

Queensland Health continues to recommend that people stay home if they are unwell, and get tested if they have any Covid-19 symptoms. Masks are still recommended in crowded indoor settings, and people are encouraged to get vaccinated and boosted to protect themselves and others.

Current Covid-19 Situation in Queensland

As of 13 January 2023, there were 1,424 active cases of Covid-19 in Queensland. This is a decrease from the peak of the Omicron wave in January 2022, when there were over 20,000 active cases.

The majority of cases in Queensland are now the Omicron variant, which is more transmissible but less severe than previous variants. However, there are still some cases of the Delta variant circulating in the community.

Getting Vaccinated and Boosted

The best way to protect yourself from Covid-19 is to get vaccinated and boosted. Vaccines are safe and effective, and they have been shown to reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalisation, and death from Covid-19.

All Queenslanders aged 5 and over are eligible for a free Covid-19 vaccine. You can book an appointment online or at your local GP or pharmacy.

Testing for Covid-19

If you have any symptoms of Covid-19, it is important to get tested as soon as possible. Testing is free and available at a variety of locations across Queensland, including GP clinics, pharmacies, and pop-up testing sites.

You can find your nearest testing site by visiting the Queensland Health website.

Staying Safe and Healthy

In addition to getting vaccinated and boosted, there are a number of other things you can do to stay safe and healthy during the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • Stay home if you are unwell
  • Wear a mask in crowded indoor settings
  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces regularly
