5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southern California

A moderately strong 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck in Southern California on Tuesday night, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The quake was centered near Lamont, California, about 100 miles north of Los Angeles, and was felt throughout the region. There were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 10:19 p.m. PDT and had a depth of about 10 miles. The USGS initially reported the quake as a 5.4 magnitude, but later revised the measurement to 5.2.
The earthquake was felt throughout Southern California, including in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Bakersfield. There were reports of shaking in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Phoenix, Arizona, as well.
The USGS issued a yellow alert for the earthquake, indicating that there is a moderate risk of aftershocks. Aftershocks are common after earthquakes, and they can pose a hazard to people who are in damaged buildings.
