Jacksonville Jaguars Win First Preseason Game

Victory Against Chiefs Puts Team in Win Column

Mahomes Throws for Touchdowns Despite Injury

The Jacksonville Jaguars have begun their 30th NFL season with a victory, defeating the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs 26-13 in a preseason game on Thursday, August 10, 2024.

Despite playing with an injured ankle, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns before being pulled from the game in the second quarter. The Jaguars took advantage of Mahomes' absence, scoring 13 unanswered points to seal the victory.

The game marked the first action for Mahomes since he suffered a high ankle sprain in the AFC Divisional Round game against the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. The injury kept him out of the Chiefs' final two regular season games and the AFC Championship Game.
