Another 6.4 magnitude earthquake strikes off Vancouver Island
Three earthquakes have rattled the ocean floor off Vancouver Island since Thursday morning, according to Natural Resources Canada.
The largest quake, a magnitude 6.4, struck at 5:13 a.m. PT. It was followed by two smaller quakes: a magnitude 4.9 at 4:41 a.m. PT and a magnitude 4.6 at 5:26 a.m. PT.
The quakes were centered about 200 kilometers west of Port Hardy, B.C., and were felt as far away as Victoria and Nanaimo.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries.
Earthquakes Canada says the quakes are part of an ongoing swarm of activity in the area.
The swarm began on Wednesday with a magnitude 4.6 quake. Since then, there have been more than 50 quakes in the area, ranging in magnitude from 2.5 to 6.4.
Earthquakes Canada says it is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
