Basic Rider Course Review

Macomb Community College holds motorcycle safety classes at its Center Campus in Clinton Township. Classes are conducted by certified instructors from Michigan Safety.

Registration for Winter 2024 classes will open on February 1, 2024. The Motorcycle Rider and Safety Education program is committed to all aspects of motorcycle rider education and safety. Successful completion of the class results in national certification by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). Riders who complete the Macomb Community College Motorcycle Course will be eligible to receive an MSF card, which is recognized by most insurance companies and can lead to discounts on insurance premiums.

The Basic Rider Course is a three-day course that covers the basics of motorcycle riding, including:

  • Pre-ride inspections
  • Basic riding techniques
  • Cornering
  • Braking
  • Emergency maneuvers

The cost of the course is $150.00, and includes the use of a motorcycle and helmet. Participants must be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver's license.
