COLUMBUS, Ohio – If you didn't get to see the northern lights in Ohio Friday night, you may have another chance tonight and Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service, Friday night looks good for aurora viewing. The Space Weather Prediction Center says the best viewing is usually within an hour or two of midnight so between 11 PM and 1 AM.
The aurora is caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with the Earth's atmosphere. These particles are drawn to the Earth's magnetic poles, which is why the aurora is most commonly seen in the northern and southern latitudes.
The aurora is a beautiful and awe-inspiring sight. If you're lucky enough to see it, be sure to take some time to enjoy the experience.
